Limelight

Linda Dewart Inspired by the breathtaking industrial architecture of abandoned Lime Kilns at Langcliffe, Limelight is an exhibition of new work by Textilia 3 which will be on show at The Folly , Settle from July-September 2025 Sue Ingles The story is one of transformation: turning the limestone rock into quicklime for agriculture, the industrialisation of the process in the shape of the majestic Hoffmann Kiln and then, once spent, the gradual reclamation of the site by nature.   The derelict structure of the main kiln with its 22 firing chambers is an oval tunnel of alternating light and dark.  The entrance to each chamber floods the secret world of the kiln with light but also offers visitors a tantalising glimpse of nature outside.
