That 'Sweet Shop' Feeling!

Miss Rachel's Library at Gawthorpe Hall

Giddy with excitement, we spent the day at Gawthorpe Hall, oohing and ahhing as each treasure was carefully unwrapped from shrouds of tissue paper and boxes.  We had silks from China, Turkish headscarves, French bonnets and Arts and Crafts prints.  Sensory overload!

Our next challenge is to distill all of this beauty into some new work for our next exhibition.  New pieces will be displayed alongside the historical artefacts that inspired them at Gawthorpe Hall in the Spring of 2019.

This excellent study day was facilitated by the fantastic team at the RBKS Collection, led by curator Rachel Midgley.
