Finding a new perspective

Hannah Lamb - Stitching with Found Objects

Clear out the drawers!  Empty the boxes!  Leave no stone un-turned!  Guest tutor, Hannah Lamb brought a new perspective to our work this month, encouraging us to incorporate everyday, and some very unusual objects, into our work.

From feathers to gun shrapnel, no object was too awkward or misshaped to escape our stitches!  Using a variety of techniques we used threads to add new colour, to embellish and to highlight shapes and features of our treasure.

An eclectic mix of treasure from our work boxes

In the afternoon, we were taken out of our comfort zone working on giant latices and wire mesh, our stitches became less technical but more sculptural.

It was a hugely enjoyable day and one full of nice surprises.
