Flock together

Feathers - Margaret Laycock

Celebrating our first physical meeting since March 2020, it was lovely to be able to all talk at once and take part in multiple conversations rather than be limited by Zoom protocols!  As textile artists, touch is a critical part of our experience and so it was fantastic to be able to handle work which we had brought to show and tell.

Margaret has been working on a collection of feathers for our Nature Book project.  They are made from hand painted fabric with machine embroidered detail.  The picture above shows work in progress.  The feathers are temporarily pinned in place as she plays around with different combinations and arrangements.

Lockdown diaries - Julie Coghlan

Like many of us, Julie had some unexpected visitors during the winter lockdown.  Her son and family escaped the city and Julie spent a wonderful few months with her grand daughter.  Stitching into soft, reclaimed blankets, she recorded her response to these events in a textile diary.  Every cloud has a silver lining sums encapsulates this perfectly.
